Roaming Roots

The Dutch traveling circus, Barani Circus, is more than just a spectacle; it is a close-knit family built on trust, passion, and a life lived outside the norm. This project is a glimpse into that world, focusing on Amber, a trapeze artist, and her three incredible children.

Six years ago, at just 17, Amber fell in love with a performer and joined the circus. She never left. Now, alongside her husband, she raises her three children in a way that stands apart from modern life. Their home is a trailer, and their backyard changes weekly, shifting from a grassy field to a dusty lot to a forest. In this unique environment, the children don't use phones or screens. They learn and play in nature, and they attend a special school designed for children of traveling performers, which keeps their education consistent no matter where they are.

This series explores the delicate balance between two worlds: the breathtaking performance under the bright lights of the big top and the quiet, everyday life that unfolds behind the scenes. It's a story of finding roots in motion, of building a family and a home not with walls, but with love, resilience, and the rhythm of the road.

This is a story about the acrobatics of life, where home is not a place, but the people who travel with you.
